The exhibition Life from the Earth: Prehistoric Settlements in Pomurje presents, for the first time, archaeological finds discovered during excavations carried out as part of the construction of the Pomurje motorway. The central part of the exhibition features ceramic artifacts presented in chronological order—from the Copper Age and Early Bronze Age to vessels from the Middle and Late Bronze Age, as well as ceramic items from the Early and Late Iron Age. These ceramic objects illustrate the continuity of settlement in the region and showcase the wide variety of forms and decorative styles developed by prehistoric potters in Pomurje. Also on display are stone tools and their manufacturing techniques, weaving implements (such as spindle whorls and loom weights), and rare pieces of jewelry that point to metallurgical activities within the settlements—such as a copper awl, a piece of copper, and melted ceramic vessels.
A reconstructed façade of a Late Bronze Age house is also exhibited, along with original clay wall plaster that retains impressions of wooden stakes, and a fragment of a clay spiral that once decorated the house’s interior. A short film further illustrates the development of the Late Bronze Age settlement.
