Homes in the countryside combined human nad livestock dwellings with buildings for self-sufficient farming. The predominant natural materials used in the construction of houses and outbuildings were wood and clay.
The level of residential culture is reflected in the interior furnishings. Wealthier farmers had better and more numerous pieces of furniture made by carpenters, which were decorated with inlays and carvings.
In the reconstruction of a thached house and a recording of a grandfather telling his grandson about the old days in the Prekmurje dialect, visitors can admire richly ornamented aand painted floor tiles, ventilation lines, chests, and beds.
